I Decided to go All-in for Jesus, Now What?

Maybe you were dragged to church by your spouse.

Maybe your parents had you feeling guilty.

Maybe you felt obligated to go on Easter.

But, you went – and you heard something that was meant for just you to hear.  Something changed in your heart, in your life.  For the first time, you understood – really understood – who Jesus is, what He did for you, and the life He wants for you. And, when Pastor Michael called people to the front of the auditorium – like he had never done before – you did it. You took that first brave step and then the second and third.  Soon, you heard yourself praying out loud a prayer to go all-in for Jesus.  Whether it was the first time or the 100th time, it was all so exciting on Sunday when your relationship with Jesus started, then Monday rolled around and it was tough – Tuesday wasn’t much better. So you face the question that people have faced for centuries – what now?

I made a decision to have a relationship with Jesus, but what happens next?

Here are three things you need to know:

1.  You are brand new!  Your past doesn’t have a hold of you – let it go.  The excitement of Easter Sunday has passed, and you’re faced with reality.  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – they all hold the same challenges they did before.  You may not feel instantly stripped of all your imperfections and insecurities, but part of learning is trusting Jesus and who He is. The addict is gone. The cheater banished. The liar is dead. When you have a new relationship with Jesus, we no longer have to do the things our old selves did or wanted to do.  Over time, we find our actions and desires changing.  We might still may mistakes and bad decisions, but God’s grace is always chasing us as we learn to react in a new way.

2.  You are not alone. God created us for relationships – with Him and with others. You don’t have to do this alone.  Surround yourself with people who believe the same things as you do, people who lift you up and help you learn about the great plans God has for your life.  Jesus was a great example of how to do life in community. He surrounded Himself with 12 friends and followers, called disciples. His relationship with His disciples is the perfect example of what community looks like. Get connected with in a community group.  We can help you do that.  Just email us at groups@communitychurch.info and we’ll find the group that fits your needs the best.  If you aren’t comfortable meeting in someone’s home just yet, Community Church offers special, short-term small groups on-campus. Check out the upcoming short-term groups at communitychurch.info/events

3.  Keep coming to church. The best way to know Jesus better is to learn more about who He is. As we grow in our understanding of Him and His life, we can apply what we’re learning in our own lives, and things will start to change.  We will find ourselves with a peace in our hearts beyond what we can accomplish ourselves.

Going all-in for Jesus is where your journey begins.  It’s not a destination, but the starting line on a great and awesome adventure! You don’t have to figure everything out on your own, but when you surround yourself with positive people that help you grow, and keep coming to church and learning more about Jesus, you will find yourself in an amazing place – realizing the destiny that God has for your life.

Congratulations! Life is about to get awesome!
