Trip Date: July 22nd – 29th 2017
Interest Meeting: February 26, 2017 at 5:00pm
About this Project: On this trip, we will partner with Compassion International to reach out to kids and youth that come from impoverished circumstances. We will have the opportunity to play, sing, and share with kids of all ages whose lives are being impacted through Compassion. We will also work with local churches to share the love and hope of Jesus through outreach into the community around the churches we partner with.
Who may come:This trip is open to all teens, ages 13-19 years of age. Middle school students younger than 13 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. A limited number of adults who enjoy working with teens are also welcome to participate on the trip as chaperones.
What are the accommodations? We will stay in a local Salvadoran home. It will be in a safe, gated community. There will be running water, but hot water is in limited supply. We will have a satellite phone connection, but WiFi usage has to be shared. There will be appointed times for shared WiFi use when we’re at the house, but WiFi may be available in public locations when we are out.
What we will eat? Native Salvadoran cuisine will be served during the mission. Other meals will be available in restaurants when traveling. Tap water and foods prepared with tap water should not be consumed by the team. Bottled water will be available.
What should I bring? Bring a Bible, your passport, camera, chargers, closed-toe shoes and a pair of flip flops, clothes for church, long pants, toiletries and medications, spending money, sunglasses, and a hat. Bring enough clothes for about half of the trip duration.
